The trail stretches approximately one mile and ends at the Rinconada Canyon Visitor Center.  It’s a manageable route for most fitness levels and provides a simple way to experience part of the monument on foot.  Whether you’re walking for exercise, curiosity, or to enjoy the landscape, the La Cuesta Trail offers a clear and direct path.

Facilities and Access at the Finish Line

When you reach the Rinconada Canyon Visitor Center, you’ll find public restrooms available, a practical feature that makes the trail more comfortable for families and casual walkers.  This endpoint can also be the starting point for further exploration, depending on your schedule and energy level.  Whether you’re looking to stretch your legs or begin a longer adventure, the La Cuesta Trail provides a purposeful path with useful access at both ends.

The La Cuesta Walk-In Access is located at the entrance of the Petroglyph National Monument Visitor Center at the corner of Unser Blvd. NW and Western Trail NW, just south of the Santa Fe Village East Trailhead.
